Counter Balance is looking for a Junior Policy and Advocacy Officer!
ABOUT COUNTER BALANCE
We are a European coalition of development and environmental NGOs dedicated to holding public banks accountable. With extensive experience scrutinising the European Investment Bank (EIB), export credit agencies, and development finance, we work to prevent harmful impacts from large infrastructure projects.
Our mission: to ensure European public finance drives a just transition toward sustainable and equitable societies.
MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
● Develop and implement advocacy and awareness campaigns related to EU investment plans and the European Investment Bank (EIB);
● Taking part in advocacy activities with the Green and Social EIB coalition;
● Various research activities related to the role of public finance (particularly on climate and energy issues);
● Supporting the organisation of internal and public events and of communication tasks.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES
● Academic degree in a relevant field such as Environmental Science, Economics or Political Science; A course on EU decision-making processes and policies during studies is an asset;
● Ideally one year of relevant work experience;
● Highly developed writing and oral skills in English;
● Ability to work in a small team in an autonomous manner;
● Ability to multitask, prioritise and manage time effectively;
● An interest in public finance and climate and social justice;
● Some experience of activism and working with NGOs at the national or international levels is an advantage.
